For what it's worth, see

brief report on my experience with this.  In short, a Core 2 Duo (2
cores) had no trouble with real-time flagging of 3 simultaneous jobs.
When I had it set to 2, I would find all too often that out of 3
simultaneous recordings, the one I wanted to watch in real time
happened to be the one not being flagged.  If I didn't have real-time
flagging enabled, it wouldn't have made as much sense to allow more
than 2 jobs at a time.
