Tom,
The PPA has been updated with mythtv-indicator v0.1.3 which among
other changes properly handles corrupt/zero length/missing image files
like your channel icons. Once you update the indicator you should be
able to re-enable an artwork theme in the Preferences pop-up.
Hopefully this works for you.
