[mythtv-users] Has MythTV bricked my HD-PVR?

In my experience, this happens frequently to nearly always when the HDPVR is
sharing a USB Bus with anything else, or when it is on a USB 1.1 and not a
USB 2.0 bus. As root, run lsusb and post the output.

Mine looks like this:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 1781:0938 Multiple Vendors Iguanaworks USB IR
Transceiver

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0471:0815 Philips (or NXP) eHome Infrared Receiver

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Bus 001 Device 013: ID 2040:4900 Hauppauge

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Notice that the Hauppauge entry is the only one attached to Bus 001, the USB
2.0 bus. Until I figured out which USB ports were which and left the HDPVR
on its' own USB 2.0 bus, I couldn't even do cat /dev/video1 > temp.mpg. And
now that my setup looks like the above, I haven't had this issue for over a
year (and now that I've said that.).

Hope this helps!
