If you're suggesting he hook it up to something other than sealed gel 
cells, the room they are stored in must absolutely be well vented to the 
outside.  Standard wet cell vehicle batteries will outgas hydrogen 
(ignition hazard) and lead-oxide (poisonous) during normal operation.
