Thanks for the responses guys.  I got this response from Austin at Ceton
while I was killing time on my business trip.

"Yes I had another user start experiencing this issue on upgrade.
Apparently Ubuntu changed something in their NetworkManager that makes it
unable to acquire an IP address from our card anymore.

The workaround for now is to manually assign the IP of 192.168.200.2 to the
ctn0 interface in /etc/network/interfaces"

I did so and from what I can test from 500+ miles away from home, the
workaround seems to work.  I will test for sure using mplayer when I get
home.
