I went with a 120G sandisk extreme with os and mysql both on the ssd.
There have been several threads on implementing SSD that pushed me to
decide to go that direction when I was ready for my next upgrade. You
may want to read through
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/508621 or
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/500301. Like most
of the experiences reported in those threads I'm finding both
mythfrontend and mythweb to be much quicker. I have a reasonably
large database (~1000 channels across 3 lineups - hdhomerun, prime,
hdpvr, ~4tb of media) and performance with things like loading the
program guide and the list of recordings is significantly improved. I
couldn't be happier. SSDs seem to be showing up every day on the deal
websites right now... I can't think of a good reason not to be using
one.
To folllow up on the mythweb issue -- there is a ticket open for it
http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10504. And a simple patch that got
me up and running with no troubles so far.
