If you just want to Install and Go, LinHES is very nice.

I've been using it since 2005 when I first built my MythTV system.

I'm getting ready to turn that system into a front-end for my more significant server which will run Myth as a backend and other services...

But LinHES has been an excellent platform.

It's the kind of thing I would setup for my Mom.
