You probably need to define what you mean by "ok" here.

Some criteria that might matter include:
* ability to shorten retry timers
* ability to disable idle timers
* vibration damping
* rotational/seek speeds
* error rates (unrecoverable/recoverable)
* what drives are "certified" for any controller
  you might be using.

Note that the error retry rates are sometimes
claimed to be one of the reasons that "consumer"
drives are not always an ideal match for RAID.
