[mythtv-users] EPG, IR Remote and just making it all work

Having a lot of fun messing around with MythTV recently.
Put in an IR device and going through the steps to test everything out.

Still have not got the MythTV completely setup correctly and probably need
some advice from those whom have already got it going.

The three things I need help with are:
====
1) Getting the Program Guide setup just the way I want it. (using mc2xml to
download the program information each night and mythfilldatabase is ran
afterwards.)
2) Getting the lircd.conf and hardware.conf files correctly setup so that
irw utility will work when testing. (Event4 is the receiver and TIVO is the
remote)
3) Connecting all the dots so that I can use MythTV as a DVR.
====
1) On the program guide. I have used the MFE/http to manipulate the channel
information. Got a few icons associated with the wrong channels and need to
remove those icon associations.
Finding the icons for the channels has been painful. My location is close
to Portland, Oregon, USA. Using over the air broadcasting for input. Only
have about 20 channels of interest to work with.

2) Seem to have the lircd.conf file correct for the TIVO remote. And also
seem to have the hardware.conf file correct for the Event4 IR Receiver (Not
sure here). Mode4 testing works but irw does not.
Suspect it might be because of the change of location for the lircd PID
file. Currently that location is /var/run/lirc. Not sure where irw is
looking for the PID.

3) I am able to use mplayer to bring up a channel to watch directly but get
failures when attempting to use MythTV Front End. Tuner being used is
Hauppauge 950Q USB. Would like to find a good card to install into the unit
later that could possibly bring me up to at least 4 tuners at some time.

This is probably a lot for just one email post. Perhaps we can post the
discussions independently on each.
Not sure exactly which order I should proceed with each of these.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you all in advance for the
assistance.

David
