I think what they (and I) are trying to get accross is that sometimes you 
channel surf, then find something you like to watch. Perhaps this is done 
different where you are (upcomming programs can be sched. into recordings) 
but where I am from, that is how things are done :)

On my "many" rebuilds of my media system, I simple delete all the settings 
etc and start over. This is a good way to clear out old recordings. Our TV 
providers here have the very bad habit of add "ALL NEW" infront of certain 
screenings titles....

IMHO, the viewing habits that you have, seems to be shared by a lot of 
people, including most dev's. This leads to, again, IMHO, the fact that 
you don't see the issues on LiveTV. Or, your system is spec'ed so high 
that you don't see the issues as I still believe the frame drops are due 
to "bad" management of disk IO during a program transition (just to pick 
one issue)
