My recommendation is a "Delete all video sources" followed by creating a
new Video Source, using "Fetch channels from listings grabber" (assuming
you keep using the HD-PVR or get a CableCARD device--i.e. something
unscannable), then connecting the new Video Source to your new capture
card (and it's probably also a good idea to do a "Delete all capture
cards" and then create new cards, assuming you get some other card
rather than keep the HD-PVR).
Note that in deleting the old Video Source, any recordings you've
created previously from DISH will be shown with either incorrect channel
information or (if there's no channel in the new Video Source with the
same ID as a previous channel) with just an old channel ID where the
channel information would be shown in Watch Recordings. This won't
cause any problems with MythTV. If you're concerned that it looks bad,
you'll be best served moving those old recordings to Video Library,
which is a better location for storage of large collections of video, so
is ideal for archival of old recordings.
Also, if you have any "this channel" recording rules, you'll have to fix
them. Either delete the old rule (set it to "Do not record this show")
and then create new rules (where "any channel" rules will always work
regardless of future channel changes, but if you really think you need
"this channel" rules, create them with the proper new channels).
Alternatively, edit the existing rule to change it to an "any channel"
rule (and, ideally, leave it that way, or if you really think you need
"this channel" rules, find an episode of the show on the proper channel
in the guide and edit the rule for it to change it back to a "this
channel" rule--now on the correct new channel).
If you don't delete the old Video Source--and leave an unconnected Video
Source in place in the database--you will almost definitely get to a
point where MythTV just stops working properly (causing it to no longer
be able to record). Generally, everything will look fine in the near
term, but one day, things will just break. We didn't design MythTV for,
so we don''t support, disconnected Capture Cards, Video Sources, or
Channels.
