VDA does work on my late 2008 unibody MacBookPro as of 0.25. Although
I normally use the Nvidia 9600M card and not the 9400M and the
hardware doesn't support automatic GPU switching, the playback info
screen shows VDA triggering on most h.264/MPEG-4 files; ffmpeg
triggers for the others and for MPEG-2. (Playing h.264 files can thus
use less CPU than MPEG-2, amusing for any MythTV user from before the
VDPAU days.) I'm running your frontend build with VDA decoding and
OpenGL rendering, as quartz-blit rendering on 0.25 1) kills the
frontend with live tv, and 2) exhibits the aspect ratio bug reported
in #10398.

File Format VDA triggers?
FW/CC/ATSC rebcording	MPEG-2 No
HD-PVR recording	h.264 Yes
Killa Sampla h.264 No
I am Legend trailer	h.264 Yes
Moonraker h.264 Yes
