Hi Chris,
Yes and no I guess is my view. The purpose of Myth in my own personal view is to enable us to watch content in a flexible way that suits whatever we might want to do.
I have two humax dvb-t, a freesat dvb-s box and a myth box and a blue ray player, internet streamed content. Sometimes i watch stuff i have pre recorded, sometimes i watch live tv and sometimes stuff streamed.
While sporting events and the news are more realtime than most content there are also times when might just stick on FiveUSA and watch csi or ncis live. When they shut down or i get bores i will switch to a pre recorded film, sometimes i buy a dvd/blur ray and watch that, if i am having a party we might watch you tube misic videos to dance to.
My point is i think most people watch tv in an increasingly diverse set of ways and multiple ways at that.
I am looking at how i can script myth to bridge the gaps between time shifted, live and on demand content and to automate / integrate / streamline these choices for the end user, blending all these different content sources.
While some users will watch tv in a particular way those habits also change as new things become possible easily with technology. We have had VCRs for years, then PVRs turned everything on its head, now Netflix / Love Film / Amazon / Hulu - we continuously redefine what is possible, and we still have live tv that people will watch ay certain times.
Anyway, that is what I am trying to achieve.
Kind Regards
Ben
