I don't think commercial flagging has any affect on the recording 
directly at all.  Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but all 
commercial flagging does is read through the recording and inject 
entries in the database for the locations of the commercials which are 
then in turn used by the frontend during playback, OR by mythtranscode 
if you're trying to cut out the commercials.

Not sure if the UPNP spec provides for supplying commercial markers.
