I agree with you on that. One thing that will help, though, is if you go 
into the programming guide that is built-into the receiver and switch it 
to "all subscribed" mode. (IIRC, it's not obvious. You should probably 
check the manual, where it describes what the remote buttons do.) Having 
done this, it will only show you the channels you can actually view, so 
you can get the numbers and cross-reference them with the XMLIDs in SD.
