Comcast policy is, in general, to mark all non-premium channels as
copy-freely. Comcast has acquired dozens, if not hundreds of local
and regional cable companies over the years, each with their own
legacy setups, and each behaves a little differently. An e-mail to
we_can_help at comcast.com is how most people are dealing with incorrect
CCI protection. My own communication with Comcast at this level is
basically the same as Tom's-- I had a local engineer on the phone by
the end of the afternoon, and we were doing real time
troubleshooting/modification of CCI flagging.
Many of us have had poor experiences with Comcast customer service in
the past, but I think it's important to recognize when they do right--
and a lot of people's experience with the copy protection stuff, and
getting it set right with immediate and definitive action, is
definitely a big "plus" for them for me.
