It shouldn't matter for the backend, because the Gentoo init script 
forces the HOME directory to /etc/mythtv, meaning the configuration 
directory is /etc/mythtv/.mythtv.  It also forces ownership to that to 
the mythtv user, so file permissions should not be an issue.
