Hi list,
after upgrading a Centos 5-frontend with the latest kernel and all a
few days ago I discovered that the mceusb module was gone. I thought
of this as a good opportunity to upgrade to Centos 6. I have done this
with another frontend with a Holtek SL-6399 remote, and it was quite a
piece of work to get that to work.
The mceusb-remote was very easy when installed under Centos 5, but
after upgrading to Centos 6, I can't get it to work at all. I know
that the lirc_mceusb module is gone, but was under the impression that
mceusb should be autodetected by the kernel, and that these changes
should have been backported to the 2.6.32-kernel. I have also tried
installing the centos plus-kernel.
I have plugged the receiver in, and installed the 0.9.0-lirc from
ATrpms. (these work fine with the devinput SL-6399 on the other
frontend)
Kernel:
2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64 #1 SMP Sun Jun 26 16:27:27 BST
2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Here are the output from /var/log/messages:

The output of cat /proc/bus/input/devices shows shows keyboard, mouse
and power buttons, nothing about this.
/etc/sysconfig/lircd: (tried with both devinput and default here,
since searching this list yields some confusion over which it should
be)
# Options to lircd
LIRCD_OPTIONS="--device=devinput"
I have put /usr/share/doc/lirc-0.9.0/remotes/mceusb/lircd.conf.mceusb
as /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
from /var/log/messages starting lircd
Nov 22 18:11:59 magnus-2011 lircd-0.9.0[2874]: lircd(default) ready,

Nov 22 18:12:17 magnus-2011 lircd-0.9.0[2874]: removed client
I am not really sure where to go from here. Any tips? Should I order
some more cheap SL-6399s from DealExtreme?
