I think the best way to go is to use the long lived nvidia graphics
releases, which look like were created for exactly the reasons stated
above.

I'm packaging these for ATrpms, please use

    yum install nvidia-graphics-long-lived

later today to get them on your system. Remove nvidia-graphics which
would otherwise continue to track the latest stable driver by nvidia
(where stable means blessed as such by nvidia).

Looks like ATrpms' multi driver install capabilities for nvidia are
starting to pay off again. ;)
