A) The importance of the rag that is 60 Minutes is pretty debatable.  I'd personally put it somewhere below Inside Edition.B) None of the other networks have a long established show in a long established time slot that has been long established it will start late if football runs late.  SO it is very easy to schedule throw away programs in the 7 - 8 time slots.C) It seems to me that with the exception of 1994-1997 when CBS lost the NFL to FOX, and the 1972-1975 60 Minutes hiatus, CBS has been airing 60 Minutes immediately after football (with overruns) since 1968.  So none of this should really be a "surprise" to anyone.
