attempt?

And wouldn't it be more appropriate to just exit with 0, since if the
backend is sleeping the job queue is either empty or any jobs in it
cannot be fetched anyway?  I don't recall if >0 jobs in the queue
prevents idle or not, but it should if it does not.

Well, since this is all just part of a driver for the real job queue
processor I will post my final script for both monitoring and processing
the job queue, when I have it done.
