[mythtv-users] Software changes required when switching CPU from single-core to multi-core?

My BE had been running fine with a single core Athlon 64 3200+ cpu for
some time. I had the opportunity to upgrade to an Athlon II x2 3800+
chip-and-fan set which runs cooler and theoretically is faster,
although I suspect the truth is that I now can run two independent
"1900+" threads in place of one 3200+ thread.
Since swapping cpus on the BE, I have encountered several instances
where recordings failed (typically when 3-4 concurrent PVR-500 analog
SD recordings are active) at the end of the recording and either left
the last few minutes out or left an entry in the DB but no file
(verified with myth.find_orphans.pl). If I was unfortunate enough to
be watching a show (something recorded previously) when this happens,
then my independent FE locks up for a couple of minutes (at least)
before it drops back to the main menu, drops out to mythwelcome, or I
lose patience and reboot it.
Was there something I was supposed to do to tell MythTV that this is
now a multi-core BE? IIRC, MythTV -- at least in the version I'm
running (MythTV Version : 24158; MythTV Branch :
branches/release-0-23-fixes; AKA MythBuntu 10.04) only supported
single-threading anyway.
Is my problem that I essentially downgraded my BE performance for Myth
because a single thread now has less performance than it had before?
If that's the case, I can always revert to the older cpu.
Craig.
