Major show stopper on hardware raid but lots of the softraid nas box forums are full of moans and problems, also linux mdadm people reporting problems. No idea if the moans and groans were real or perceived but there seems to be a lot of moaning about the same drives.

I was happy to buy some to use purely as storage group media drives (no raid) and actually want the aggressive power management, although it's looking like even without syslog etc. waking the drive up WD's management is still too much or Myth/Ubuntu is bothering the drives even when there are no recordings in progress

 I have an AV-GP 2TB drive too and that looks like the model I'll be buying in future, I hovered for a while between the two when ordering these two, hopefully I didn't make the wrong decision.
