[mythtv-users] Cablecards registered to devices or to software stacks?

I'm thinking about getting one of the MythTV/Cablecard supporting
devices that are starting to become available and have a question
about registering the cablecard.   With an InfiniTV or HD Prime, can
I have the cablecard installed/registered while running one software
stack and then switch to a different software stack for actual operations?
I might want to set things up with Windows Media Center for test purposes
during the install and then switch to MythTV after the installer has left.
Is that possible?  I know I can't pull a cablecard from one device and put
it in a different one, but I am not sure if that applies in this case.

On a related note, does anybody know if WMC will work fully to talk to an
HD Prime while running in a virtual machine?  Or does it need to run
on 'bare' hardware for copy protection purposes?
