I have had a couple of problems with this. I thought I had fixed it
about a month ago by enabling a cron job to defrag my single XFS
recordings drive but it started again tonight when my GF was watching
her shows. It happened on two occasions. Looking at the logs it
seems to have occurred at the same time that shows were being expired
by the backend. Maybe I need to enable to slow deletion option or
something?

For the record, I had a single SD show being recorded and real-time
commercial flagged and one remote FE watching a show. I am not too
sure it is pure disk access that is a problem, since I had just been
dumping about 1GB of digital photos on the same disk (using an share
that runs over SSH in gnome) and there were no complaints of
stuttering from the GF. (iotop seems to show 5 or so instances of
mythbackend but I recall that this is normal). When I previously
tried to monitor this on the FE, there were definite log messages
indicating that the FE was waiting for data.

Just thought I would add my data point also.

Cheers,
Whytey
