Also please be aware that the all-new shiny digital transmissions will
change from QAM16 or QAM64 at 2k to QAM64 at 8k - and in areas
blessed with the full complement of multiplexes will have only FIVE
standard def. muxes and one (DVB-T2) HD mux rather than the current
maximum of six muxes.
This will mean that external scanners configured to look for 2k
multiplexes will fail entirely. I managed to get mythtv's scanner
patched just in time to cope with 8k transmissions :-)
Just FYI, folks.
All UK users should take note & be prepared to submit patches to the
dvb scan config files for their local Tx accordingly
As an aside - the move to 8k mode also means that a good number of old
DVB-T STBs will be rendered useless - namely the ones that split NITs
didn't put nails in the coffin of. Muhahaha
