I wanted to wait before responding to what I've found since changing
my settings.
I only changed the Max setting. What I found was that at the stock
setting my ION systems would have hiccup issues every so often with
recordings done with my HDPVR (QAM was fine, firewire has it's own,
separate issues).
I lowered the Max down a bit and the Avg slightly, I've not noticed
the hiccups since and I have not noticed any degradation in quality on
my 50" Panasonic plasma (that machine uses a GT220 fyi).
from what I've read about the HDPVR, the "Max" settings are way
overkill for what is broadcast by cable/satellite companies and really
more for "ripping" things like Blu-Ray. From my tests I can see why
this is.
just my thoughts. I've saved some space too which is nice, but really
it was about being able to watch HDPVR recordings on the ION systems
without affecting the quality on my plasma.
thanks all!
