ion2 supports ELD (edid like data, to check audio capabilities over
hdmi), ion 1 doesn't
multi-channels audio on the ion1 is broken: audio channels will not be
in the expected order. No problem with ion2
Ion2 supports HBR (high-bitrate) hdmi (TrueHD, DTS-HD, DD+ bitstream)
Ion2 supports divx hardware acceleration
