Problems that suddenly appear may be a heatsink clogged with dust, a
fan starting to seize (not all of them make noise as they die,
especially on a 24x7 system), or an aged power supply. I suppose the
OS hard drive might also be going out, so you might check your
S.M.A.R.T. status too, if applicable.

If all those things check out, you might have to resort to a memtest.
