what does aplay -L and aplay -l shows?

cat /proc/asound/version

If the proper drivers are installed, it will show up in mythtv once
you've scanned for audio devices.

Use 1.0.23 at a minimum; if cat /proc/asound/version shows anything
less than 1.0.23 it won't work
