That's not really true.  Native 64-bit Linux versions of flash have
only been available relatively recently, and any video decoding based
on using w32 codecs won't work with 64-bit versions of mplayer and
such.  There's less of a need for such hacks these days, but it was a
legitimate warning 3-4 years ago.
