They should compress very well.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong shows, but I don't see a conflict here.
The concert is on tuner 1 and "Submarine School" is on tuner 10.

You might be getting bitten by a known display issue.  Way back when,
no one really expected a user to have more than 9 cards, so the
"Upcoming Recordings" screen only allowed one character to show on
which card a recording would occur.  In your case, "Submarine School"
is really on card 10, but it's probably getting truncated to just "1"
when displayed.
