you could try reducing the key repeat value in the Harmony software...
i too saw a similar issue to you in mythbuntu 11.04 and an mceusb device, vs
mythbuntu 10.10. if i could get my setup working the way i wanted to with
11.04, then i'd of looked more into it, but i couldn't get things working,
so i dropped back to a setup i knew worked.
