"EyeTV Netstream DTT has one quality setting, Lossless."
That means whatever you get broadcast from the source goes straight to
the device it is being streamed to. Broadcast H264 is a tossup whether
it will be in a sufficiently limited format to be playable on the iPad.
Broadcast MPEG2 is completely out of the question. From what I gather,
this limits you to UK Freesat broadcasts, and likely only the standard
definition ones.

The HDHomeRun is a specific device, with a custom communications
protocol. MythTV uses libraries designed specifically to access that
device. The EyeTV tuner almost certainly uses a different protocol.
Note that Elgato also sells HDHomeRuns independently for the North
American market.
