[mythtv-users] Returning from guide, screen goes black and white with herringbone pattern.

Using 24-fixes.

Sometimes, either in LiveTV or a recording, if I go to the guide and
then exit, the show I'm watching goes black and white with what I'd
call a herringbone pattern overlaying it. I have to exit and then
return to the live show or recording in order to continue to watch a
clear, colour image.

Any ideas?

I had this too. It only happens if use VDPAU.

After exiting guide, pausing livetv for a second (using pause button)
gives clear picture again.

Do you have livetv window in guide? If not, maybe your qt has no x-shape
enabled.

My problems did go away when x-shape is enabled. Guide livetv window
works ok and no distorted picture after exiting guide anymore.
