Anthony,

Setting up myth is not trivial. Setting up myth also requires some
understanding of unix/linux/*nix.

There are certainly areas where improvements in the ui can be made, but
there is limited development resource (people willing to give there time)
and mythtv is not billed as a piece of software that is ready for primetime
despite many many people using just mythtv for media playback. It is
afterall pre-v1.00

If a developer is going to spend time on something it is often to resolve a
problem they are encountering. And most use of a system is in the main parts
of myth, not the setup pages... so naturally the most improvements are
there, although a lot of work is going on currently to make the setup pages
webpages... even then i dont know if the browse to folder type dialogues
will be present, it certainly wouldnt be as simple as putting an file input
control on the html page (assuming you know some html)

With regards to the wiki, you're right... many pages (including many i have
edited) are notes and need clarifications, updates and expanding but this
requires people like yourselves to ask the questions and updating the
pages... you afterall are the new-to-myth person who is ideally placed to
ask the questions on this list and update the wiki pages for others,
expanding or clarifying the work of others who have probably also spent a
long time figuring things out and documenting it for themselves, then
putting those notes on the wiki... it is only when fresh eyes and/or
technicalwriters get involved with the project that the documentation
improves.

Many pages are well written but there is always room for improvement... i
hope you stick with mythtv, and work with us to improve the project for all
those involved and all those that follow in your footsteps.

Please excuse brevity and pistakes, this email was sent from my Android
