If you haven't already done it, I'd say to download mjpegtools:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/mjpeg/mjpegtools/1.9.0/mjpegtools-1.9.0.tar.gz

And then apply the patch:

I also had to make the following change to get it compile:
http://mjpeg.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mjpeg/mjpeg_play/mplex/lpcmstrm_in.cpp?r1=1.11&r2=1.12

./configure with the "--prefix=/usr" option and when you install it it
should overwrite your existing (broken) mjpegtools stuff.   Though I
can't say for sure where opensuse puts stuff.
