Oh, forgot to mention the actual numbers.  He said he's getting 
/average/ power draw of 16W--including idle and non-idle time, for a 
combined frontend/backend system doing playback, recording, 
commflagging, mysql, etc.  The Apple specs for his system quote an 13W 
idle (the newest Mac Mini is 10W idle, so...).  And remember that the 
Mac Mini has a real processor (an Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile).
