Sorry that's been your experience-- My perspective as a developer has
been that you are the exception rather than the rule.

Virtually none of my unencrypted iso images will play from

Better to let us determine what is or is not useful information.

Please debug crashes by providing a backtrace with debug
symbols/packages as explained here:

All DVD playback issue tickets should include logs with -v playback.
