1. Don't know what it meant by "do not top post."

2. I am obviously doing a bad job of describing the problem. I'll take one
more shot at it here.
* I installed the lastest Mythbunbu release last week as a clean install on
a new PC I built. This PC has a Hauppage 1250 in the PCIe slot. I connect my
over the air rabbit ears to the RF input jack of the 1250.
* I boot the machine as a backend/frontend.
* I try to select "WATCH TV" as a menu item and I get an error which
inststructs me to do a setup.
* I go to the program called Mythbuntu Backend Setup and run it
* I try "ADD NEW CAPTURE CARD"
* nothing I choose will select a card number. Nothing will configure in this
setup program. Therefore, nothing is connected to the front end program,
therefore nothing works regarding watching TV.

I found a long tutorial about editing the cx23588 driver and recompiling it,
and reinstalling it. It was a nightmare that took me hours and changed
nothing. I did it twice. I conclude it is far too complicated for people
with no interest in programming. So, I moved on to this "MythTV Support
System" here.

I was assuming the kind of fix required would be go to site X, download File
Y, add it to folder Z. If I have to sit at terminal and run all kinds of
commands and download and edit files and so on, I'll send the card back and
move on to a better solution.
