I have a Mystique Satix S2 Dual card and an AverMedia Hybrid TV card
The S2 Card is /dev/adapter0/frontend0 and 1
The DVB-T is /dev/adapter1/frontend0
The S2 card works in that Kaffeine will tune stations from it with very
good results.
However, I cannot get it set up in any satisfactory way in MythTV
I have been futtering at this for some weeks.
I am not entirely inexperienced in Linux but know little of MythTV apart
from what I have learned recently through trial and error and googling.
The box is a headless server running Mythbuntu 10.10 and the MythTV
installed from Mythbuntu and re-installed more than once.
It is connected to a sky digital dish --for simplicity as the alignment
of the dish I set up for the project also suffered from my inexperience.
http://parker1.co.uk/mythtv_freesat.php has been a great help as have
other things I have googled.
My central problem is that
scan -x0 /usr/share/dvb/dvb-s/Astra-28.2E | tee channels.conf
returns no results at all. Any variants of the switches for it,similarly.
Other attempts at setting up the backend using the the UK grabber script
met with mixed success.
Again I could not get anything to tune using the myth-setup scanner and
the Channel 4 frequency as a starting.
I may have actually recorded stuff from the DVB-S card using the grabber
approach. As in I recorded 1x1 45 minute show. The next attempts
produced numerous short files of 1meg+ each fragments.
I did have channels from dvb-s card appearing in the list. But that
approach ended when a variety of errors (demux and channel by id) left
the backend server apparently oscillating on and off (I may be wrong in
this - I am a Newbian here).
So today I started to go through the setup process again.
I know there are many things I should have read etc - forgive me for
that - I read what I could find - and indeed eventually understood parts
of it.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can give - many many hours have
gone into this by now.
I know that this is not enough data but - ask and I will do my best to
answer about my own particular setup.
I am in Ireland.
Regards,
Brian
