Yep.  It's designed to work with any version of MythTV.  The main 
benefit is that it does things to make it less likely for you to have 
problems when you restore to a DB server on which a distro provided a 
MythTV database, and similar.  But, if you get a good database 
backup--regardless of how you get it--and you restore it properly--based 
on the existing configuration and the backup itself--you'll be good.

You just need a SQL-based backup rather than just a MySQL binary data 
file "backup".

Note that the MythTV backup will only back up the MythTV database.

Restore script will work, regardless of how you create it.
