Success!  I now have my remote mapped to the keys previously defined in my 
.mythtv/lircrc file.  Except for rewind (<) and forward (>), which don't have 
keyscan values.  I can post the keymap file if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the help.  I hate to push my luck, but I have some questions 
about another patch you were involved with.  I've abused this thread enough 
already.  Is it OK if I contact you off-list about it?
