[mythtv-users] Confused about front-end configuration for videos

I have an instance of the MythTV front-end in a Linux box A, and another in
separate Linux box B. In BI have the master back-end, together with all the
external video material. That is, all the external video material lives in
hard drives physically attached to B. By "external video material" I mean
video material that has not been recorded with MythTV - mostly DVDs that I
have ripped to my hard drives.

When launching the front-end on A it can connect the back-end on B all
right, and it has access to the file structure for videos as laid out in B.
I have two problems though. First, the pictures associated with movies,
that are there when launching the front-end on A, are missing. The
descriptions for movies are present though for both front-ends. Seconds,
unless I have the video directories NFS-mounted on A from B, A can't find
the videos when trying to play them. Is this the way it's meant to be?

I have the feeling that I am misconfiguring my front-end at A, but I am
kind of stymied on how to fix this misconfiguration. Any help would be much
appreciated.
