No, there has been no progress. Both Craig and Brian (both active on
that ticket) have helped out with logs and backtraces but to date I
am, in summary, no closer to understanding the issue than I was X
weeks ago. I still have no real idea of what is causing the problem
and cannot reproduce it on my own macbook. Without inspiration or
motivation, I've let it slip.

What I really need is someone who is seeing the problem to either
start analysing a running application in detail or help me out with a
binary package (including Qt) that I can run here and try and analyse
myself. It is clear at this stage that logs and 'snapshot' backtraces
aren't going to help.

We definitely need more cooks.
