[mythtv-users] Analogue Capture Problems

I am using the composite input of an SAA7134 based card (Lifeview
FlyDVB-T Duo) to capture the output of a UK Sky box. The problem is
that it doesn't capture correctly. The recorded programmes' colour is
incorrect: there is no red component and there are green artefacts all
over the picture with the occasional all green screen. Curiously every
so often the picture is fine for maybe half a second but it soon reverts
to the almost unwatchable version, leaving whatever the red component of
the good picture was as a ghost image. Vary rarely everything's fine
but a reboot reverts. This happens whether I select RTJPEG or MPEG4
encoding. Btw, LiveTV is fine and I tried changing the recording
profile to LiveTV but it didn't help.

Using xawtv or mplayer I can watch the input OK unless I select YUV
encoding when a picture as described above results. The sound is also
fine, which is what most of the howtos I've found concern themselves
with.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? How does MythTV drive the capture
card? There seem to be some settings which it doesn't set or assumes a
default; how can I change them? I saw a suggestion to use V4L-conf or
v4lctl (I know it loads a V4L2 driver) but I can't see any relevant
settings.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Rob Clive
