[mythtv-users] Broken XWindows when upgrading Mythbuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10

I just tried to upgrade my Mythbuntu 11.04 system using System Update
to Ubuntu 11.10 and now the XWIndows system seems to be broken. I just
get a blank black screen. Any ideas where to start? I know how to get
into a terminal but I'm not sure how to get the wireless connected via
terminal in order to do anything via apt-get.
