(Not addressing your other comments, only the TA issue)

Note that due to the FCC deadline of August 1st, *many* providers(*)
rolled out the firmware update to the Cisco Tuning Adapter to support
6 tuners by now (firmware F.1402). Yes, I understand it is 6, since
a M-card can handle 6 streams, (and apparently Cisco/SA did not
want to go through this again for the InfiniTV 6 users). I seem to
recall that what happens is that the Cisco/SA TA now shows
3 sessions, each of which can handle 2 tuners. Your particular
provider may vary, but the upgrades were mostly rolled out
"silently", so unless you have a device which shows the
Tuning Adapter firmware version (I understand the InfiniTV software
does) you have no way to know for sure (you could call your
cableco, but the knowledge at level 1 about such obscure issues
will likely vary).

Note that a lot of online documentation still talks about the
2 tuner limitation of the Cisco/SA TA. It was correct when
written. Things have moved on.

Gary

(*) As with almost all other deadlines, the FCC has probably
granted waivers for special circumstances, but I would
expect them all to be of limited time.
