Exit-Exit-Up-Up would save you a few key strokes.

The idea default or template recording rules comes periodically.  I
don't recall any strong opposition to them, but nobody has taken the
initiative to actually implement them.  You are in luck, however, as
your two issues can be changed fairly easily.

First, the abililty to go left on the rule type to quickly get to
"Record at any time on any channel" is controlled by the theme.
You'll need to change the wrapstyle to "selection" for the "rules"
button list in the "scheduleeditor" window defined in the
<theme>/schedule_ui.xml file.  See

Second, the default duplicate detection method is controlled by your
locale setting.  Search for "prefDupMethod" in the locales/en_gb.xml
file and copy that to the equivalent file for your chosen locale.
