Now that I reread your original post again, I see you alluded to
fixing the firmware problem.

So do you have the 1600 and 2250 using the same input source?  Either
way, you might try rescanning with the 2250, or using some external
scanner like scte65scan to see if you can pick up anything with the
2250.

The only time I have the black screen problem with my 2250 is when the
channel moved and I have to rescan to find the new location.
